Focus groups is a effective way to use find out additional research that could be very valuable to a products success. 

Focus groups are used often in media industry and by many research companies. It used for film releases which works by showing a film before release date to a private audience (members of the public). Afterwards asking them questions to collect primary research. The research is qualitative and quantitative depending on the questions you ask.

Focus has been used for film industry such as ‘I am legend’ and paronamal activerty which have been huge blockbuster success.

As a class we decided to try out our own focus group. We spit the class in halves of 9.
